PA State Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Act 45 was signed into law in 1999 by Governor Ridge. The passage of the UCC and the regulations that will be promulgated by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will change the way every building is constructed in the Commonwealth. 

Pennsylvania State Code Training Consortium web site serves as a clearinghouse for information on building code related training in Pennsylvania. This site includes a database of training being offered by member organizations for all sectors of the building and code enforcement community.

The International Code Council (ICC) was established in 1994 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive and coordinated national model construction codes. The founders of the ICC are Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA), International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI). Although regional code development has been effective and responsive to our country’s needs, the time came for a single set of codes. The nation’s three model code groups responded by creating the International Code Council and by developing codes without regional limitations the International Codes.

BOCA International is a nonprofit member service organization dedicated to professional code administration and enforcement for the protection of public health, safety and welfare. The BOCA model codes are the predominate building codes used throughout the State of Pennsylvania.

National Fire Protection Association, a nonprofit voluntary organization founded in 1896, is a clearinghouse for information on fire prevention, firefighting procedures, methods of  fire protection and life safety.
